Skepticism and Spirituality

A richer life comes from a combination of both a hearty skepticism and what has traditionally been called the spiritual path. -Barrett A. Evans

This seems like a contradiction to many people. That is because they misunderstand spirituality.

Spirituality is the cultivation of a deeper and expanded awareness of one’s connection to reality.

Reality for the naturalist is the cosmos. Here I am using the world cosmos as a catch all for this universe and, if it turns out to be the case, the multiverse.

So spirituality does not deal with another realm. It deals with our awareness of our connection to reality. It deals with cultivating our consciousness.
