Rev. Jay N. Forrest, D.Min.

Jay N. Forrest is an ordained Humanist minister with the Church of Spiritual Humanism, a Certified Meditation Teacher with the Aura Wellness Center, and an Accredited Meditation Teacher with The Priority Academy. In addition to being the author of over a dozen books, he was also a contributing author for The Routledge Handbook of Religious Naturalism.

Meditation Training
In 2003, Jay began studying Zen meditation with Rev. Brian C. Taylor at the Albuquerque Contemplative Center. He continued the practice of zazen through his affiliation with the White Robed Monks of St. Benedict.

In 2011, he began learning about Vipassana meditation at the Albuquerque Insight Meditation Center, being instructed by such teachers as Brian Lesage. He took courses in Vipassana meditation with Sally Armstrong of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and Gil Fronsdal of the Insight Meditation Center.

Jay did his undergraduate religious studies at Central Bible College and Berean University, and received his Doctor of Ministry degree (DMin) from Trinity Evangelical Christian University. He received his Diploma in Psychology from the Academy of Modern Applied Psychology.

Jay has taken courses in Buddhism and meditation from Harvard Divinity School, Princeton University, Naropa University, and the University of Virginia. He has taken courses in Zen Buddhism from Deer Park Monastery and the Ashoka eDharma Learning Center.

He has taken courses in psychology from the University of California, the University of Toronto, and Princeton University. He has taken courses in Humanism from the Humanist Institute through their Kochhar Online Humanist Education..

Jay is a member of the American Humanist Association, the International Zen Association, Zen Peacemakers International, the Clergy Project, the Spiritual Naturalist Society, and First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque.
